Apple is reportedly investigating the death of a Chinese woman tied to an iPhone while it was plugged in to an electrical outlet.

According to Reuters, the 23-year-old woman was killed by an electric shock when answering a call on her iPhone 5 while charging. Reuters cites a police account reported by China's Xinhua news agency.

"We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter," said Apple in an email to Reuters.

The report says Apple did not clarify whether the malfunction was an isolated case.
