Apple's next-generation smartphone, dubbed as iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, has its release date projected as sometime in September, and new reports are pointing to a larger screen iPhone to arrive in the future.

Following the footsteps of Samsung, Apple may adopt the Gospel-like principle of becoming "all things to all people" by varying its flagship smarthphone's size and price ranges.

There are plenty of signs for an impending release date for the next model of iPhone, with endless leaked info on its specs and production.

Foxconn, a Chinese contract manufacturer, has reportedly gone on a hiring spree to get ready for the upcoming iPhone 5S or 6 production, according to The Wall Street Journal. The Chinese firm has been hiring 10,000 workers each week since March, possibly to meet the high demand for the iPhones. "We have been very busy recently as we will start mass-producing the new iPhone soon," a Foxconn executive allegedly said.

Some rumors claim that the iPhone 6 may be the next flagship smartphone from Apple, instead of the slightly-upgraded iPhone 5S. If, however, the next in line is indeed 5S, the release date for the 6th generation iPhone will have to wait until 2014.

"The supply chain is primed for an iPhone 5S and pivoting to the iPhone 6 will take at least two or three quarters," Jeffries analyst Peter Misek said, according to the Financial Post. Misek believes that the iPhone 6 is coming in June 2014.

Apple is also testing bigger screens for the future devices, according to WSJ. In the recent months, the California-based tech giant has asked for prototype smartphone screens bigger than the current 4-inch iPhone 5, says those at Apple's suppliers.

The company may be ready to roll out larger smartphones and tablets to catch up with its competitors like Samsung. If iPhone 6 comes with a 4.8 inch screen, it would be a direct contender of the Samsung Galaxy S4 and the HTC One.

"Apple has been slow to react to consumer desire for larger smartphone screens, [and] entry level price points on new phones," BGC Financial's Colin Gillis says in an investor note.

"Waiting and waiting, for the new products to launch, has become painful."

While Apple declined to comment on the enlargement of the screen size, CEO Tim Cook addressed the Issue at the All Things D conference, ABC News notes. Cook said that, while Apple has not rolled out a wide range of iPhones, "that doesn't shut off the future."

Apple fans can expect a stellar smartphone to be released this fall, with some unprecedented features, like a new color. According to a recent leak from Phone Arena, the iPhone 5S will include Golden color.
