Did Apple conspire to raise prices? Your Say

A judge ruled Thursday that Apple conspired to raise e-book prices to push out the competition. Facebook comments have been edited for clarity, grammar and style:

Right in line with Apple's operating strategy to control as much as it can at the cost to the consumer.

-David Hale

This is ridiculous. Apple gave every publisher the exact same deal, take it or leave it. How is that a conspiracy?

-Sal Esman

The five publishers that conspired with Apple admitted that there was a conspiracy by settling. If Apple was smart, it would have settled like its co-conspirators. But Apple being Apple, the company thought it was above the law.

-Chris White

The company bought the books from the publishers. Then they sold them at their own price.

That's the same as practically everything you see on store shelves these days. How is that evil? Amazon is the one making less.

-Michael Perez

This isn't about Apple customers paying more; this is about everyone paying more.

The book publishers were making a profit.

They were following the standard retail strategy that nearly every product in America follows.
