Haswell

The 2013 MacBook Pro refresh is one that so many potential notebook buyers are eagerly awaiting, especially since Apple launched the new Haswell-powered MacBook Airs at the 2013 Worldwide Developers Conference. At WWDC 2013, there were new MacBook Pros to unveil (though the Mac Pro desktop did get updated), and with Apple gearing up to launch an iPhone and iPad or two this fall, people are hoping the company would also ready a MacBook Pro refresh sometime in the next few months. According to a new report, a recently sighted promo on Apple's online storefront suggests that the MacBook Pro with Intel Haswell processor may get launched on September 6.

The source of the rumor is up-and-coming news site Stabley Times, and the site referred to a promotion wherein buyers purchase a MacBook Pro and get a $100 iTunes gift card bundled in. As the promo expires on September 6, that could point to a possible MacBook Pro refresh on that date; the site didn't make it quite clear why it believes Apple would launch the MacBook Pro refresh on September 6, but that doesn't seem too unrealistic considering Apple's possible roadmap for the second half of 2013. Late September or early October might see the iPhone 5S and iPhone Lite debut, while the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 are believed to be due by late October or early November. That could leave early September open for the hyped and awaited MacBook Pro refresh.

The Haswell processor is the only truly likely specification change on the refreshed MacBook Pro line; that should boost battery life, though performance should remain the same. Aside from that, new specs and features remain widely unknown, though the above site speculated last week that Apple might reintroduce the 17-inch MacBook Pro when it refreshes the line later this year.
